Smart Home & Building 2.0

frogblue is a young, dynamic company based in Kaiserslautern in Germany. Leading-edge knowledge, many years of business experience and solid financing are the pillars of our innovation-based company philosophy. Our primary focus is on the rapidly growing market for intelligent living.

  • Dr Ralf Hinkel
    Chairman of the Board
  • Dr Hinkel was born in Mainz and studied computer science and electrical engineering at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. In 1989, he received his doctorate there with a thesis on autonomous mobile robots for cleaning applications. Quadriga Lasertechnik GmbH, which he founded in Kaiserslautern, developed laser levels for Bosch, Würth, Stanley and Dewalt, using the newly emerging visible laser diode technology. After selling this company, he founded the listed company MOBOTIX AG in 1999 and developed network cameras and software for video security solutions as a technology leader in the field. With around 400 employees and an export ratio of 75%, a turnover of €86 million was achieved worldwide. These business start-ups, which were always linked to newly emerging basic technologies, underline his strengths as a visionary and innovative developer with a good feel for the market, as do distinctions such as the Philip Morris Research Prize and the "Jugend Forscht" youth research prize. His new ideas and his vision of making the Smart Home a reality, as a simple, wireless and easily affordable system, resulted in the establishment of frogblue AG in Munich, after the sale of his majority interest in MOBOTIX AG. Today, Dr Hinkel is the Chairman of the Board of frogblue and is responsible for the company strategy and product development.

  • René Hinkel
    Head of Development and Production
  • René Hinkel, laid the foundation stone for his career as a developer with the successful conclusion of a Cooperative State University Degree in electrical engineering. The direction of his future career path was already evident from his bachelor dissertation on dimmer electronics. In 2014 he founded the company Abionix GmbH together with his father, Dr Ralf Hinkel. This technology company later became frogblue TECHNOLOGY GmbH. As Head of Development and Production at frogblue and the creative force behind the frogs, he still takes responsibility for every layout and all certifications. The multi-channel dimmer that he developed has been patented. As part of the management team, René Hinkel works closely with his father, Dr Ralf Hinkel, in continuously developing new and innovative solutions for home and building automation. Besides the importance of high quality and reliability he also focuses on the easy installation and handling of the frogblue products.

  • Axel Kaiser
    Chief Sales Officer
  • In December 2018, Axel Kaiser was appointed Chief Sales Officer of frogblue AG. After more than 20 years of sales experience in the electrical industry at Busch-Jaeger Elektro GmbH, the business economist (BA) was last responsible for the global product management of the Smart Home, Smart Building, Door Intercom and IoTS divisions at the parent company ABB Asea Brown Boveri Ltd.   With Axel Kaiser and his strategic and operational sales expertise, the management team of frogblue AG has gained an experienced expert from the electrical and smart home industry. His high affinity for intelligent technologies and interdisciplinary expertise strengthens the technological competence of frogblue AG and is a further guarantee for well-founded growth in the area of innovative Smart Home and Smart Building solutions.

Question FridayAugust 2019 | Friday is Question Day

All messages are encrypted with 128-bit in addition to the already existing Bluetooth encryption. In addition, each command is provided with a time stamp, which functions only in the moment, in which it is sent. All your information remains in the building. frogblue does not need an internet connection and does not store any data in a cloud. They can be safely stored on one of the frogs. You are curious or have further questions? We answer them every Friday on our LinkedIn page. Stay tuned!
