Smart Home & Building 2.0

frogblue is a young, dynamic company based in Munich and Kaiserslautern in Germany. Leading-edge knowledge, many years of business experience and solid financing are the pillars of our innovation-based company philosophy. Our primary focus is on the rapidly growing market for intelligent living.

  • Dr. Ralf Hinkel
    Chairman of the Board
  • Dr Hinkel was born in Mainz and studied computer science and electrical engineering at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. In 1989, he received his doctorate there with a thesis on autonomous mobile robots for cleaning applications. Quadriga Lasertechnik GmbH, which he founded in Kaiserslautern, developed laser levels for Bosch, Würth, Stanley and Dewalt, using the newly emerging visible laser diode technology. After selling this company, he founded the listed company MOBOTIX AG in 1999 and developed network cameras and software for video security solutions as a technology leader in the field. With around 400 employees and an export ratio of 75%, a turnover of €86 million was achieved worldwide. These business start-ups, which were always linked to newly emerging basic technologies, underline his strengths as a visionary and innovative developer with a good feel for the market, as do distinctions such as the Philip Morris Research Prize and the "Jugend Forscht" youth research prize. His new ideas and his vision of making the Smart Home a reality, as a simple, wireless and easily affordable system, resulted in the establishment of frogblue AG in Munich, after the sale of his majority interest in MOBOTIX AG. Today, Dr Hinkel is the Chairman of the Board of frogblue and is responsible for the company strategy and product development.
